My Background: From Engineering to Entrepreneurship

Before diving into digital marketing, I spent decades in the engineering sector. My career began in radio and electrical/electronics engineering, and I worked my way through various roles in purchasing and procurement. I spent over 30 years honing my skills, learning the ins and outs of business, and building a solid foundation in the world of electronics and communications.

But despite a successful career, I knew I wanted more. I wanted a lifestyle where I could control my time and work on my terms. I didn’t want to be tied down to a traditional 9-to-5 job. That’s when the idea of retiring from purchasing and exploring the world of digital marketing became more and more appealing.

The transition wasn’t easy. Digital marketing was a completely new world to me, and I didn’t have any experience in it. It felt overwhelming at first. But I was determined. I threw myself into learning everything I could—taking courses, reading blogs, watching tutorials, and experimenting. It was a steep learning curve, and there were moments where I felt like giving up. But I pushed through, because I knew that the reward would be worth it.

My Breakthrough Moment

Everything changed when I had my breakthrough moment. I realized that digital marketing wasn’t just about local businesses. The beauty of the internet is that the entire globe is your market. This was a game-changer. The freedom and potential for growth were endless. Suddenly, I could create something that wasn’t limited by geography or the constraints of a traditional business. That’s when I took the leap to not only build my own digital marketing business but to also start freelancing in copyediting and proofreading. It felt empowering to be in control of my own destiny, and I knew I could help others do the same.
